I started out in the working world with a degree in Electrical Engineering and had a successful career of 14 years. In 2008 we planted a garden in our back yard, not for any “end of the world” or “tainted food from China” scenario, but just because the idea of having fresh fruits and vegtables to eat on a regular basis was apealing. We started out planting a garden in 2008 with a 8 foot by 8 foot area that was existing in our new home. There was something refreshing and satisfying about working in the dirt that was not felt in any job that I have had. In 2009 we have tripled the size of the garden to 8 foot by 24 foot since the smaller size created a plant congestion the previous year.
Being layed off in late 2008, I have had considerable more time to spend in the garden this year, and decided to write about the experiences in the garden, around the yard, and in the home. I also plan on writing related items about what to do with the harvests of the fruits, vegtables, and spices that we are growing.
