Gutter Cleaning With Ease

For years I have struggled with the old fashioned way of cleaning gutters and if you have ever cleaned your gutters you know what I am talking about. You first get your ladder out and get a 5 gallon pail to put the leaves and debris in. Place the ladder against the house at the start of the gutter and hike up the ladder to scoop out all the debris that you can reach by hand. Then you climb down the ladder, move it over, climb back up and repeat until the gutters are cleared. This process seems endless and annoyingly repetitive, but there is an easier way. 2009 Cucumber Harvest

e planted three cucumber plants this year. Last year we planted three as well, but lost two to frost very early on in the season. This year we lost one so we were net gain of an entire plant.

Build a Soaker Hose Manifold

A

fter tripling the size of my garden from 8 foot square last year to 8′x24′, I extended my single 50′ soaker hose to three 50′ soaker hoses connected end-to-end to support the larger garden however, the hose became quite unwieldy. Having to straighten out the entire 150′ of soaker hose was becoming a nightmare with the whole hose moving when small sections needed to be rearranged knocking over plants in the process. I will detail the steps I took to remedy the situation by building a hose manifold from common parts found at the local hardware store to create a number of short runs of hose that are much easier to manage and control.
